Do not miss this afternoon of divine music

On Sunday 1st November at 4pm Trinity Consort present two celebrated choral pieces: Mozart Requiem and Britten Rejoice in the Lamb.
Shifting from dark, thunderous urgency to moments of sublime, ethereal peace, Mozart's Requiem uses masterful counterpoint and deft theatricality to stir the soul. This was Mozart's last work, left unfinished and completed by his pupil Franz Xaver Süssmayr.
Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb draws its text from Jubilate Agno, a visionary, and idiosyncratic poem written by the 18th-century poet Christopher Smart while he was confined in an insane asylum. The piece highlights the individual, the outsider, standing apart from conventional society—a recurring theme in Britten's broader output, amplified by his own identity as a pacifist and conscientious objector during World War II.
Performed by the acclaimed Trinity Consort conducted by Roger Humphrey, with organ accompaniment by Stephen King, this is a concert not to be missed.
Sunday 1st November, 4pm.
