Please see below for a letter from Helen on continuing our parish support of the foodbank during these difficult times:
During this extraordinarily difficult time for all of us, reflecting on our generous collective fledgling efforts in supporting Southend Foodbank – I wonder if we can still find a way to continue our regular support?
Southend Foodbank volunteers are working hard to keep distribution centres open for families in crisis at this time. More than ever the Foodbank is dependent on the generosity of regular donations - facing the same challenges we all face with limited supplies and restrictions on movement to shop freely. To help the Foodbank meet demand and obtain its most essential stock, there a few ways we can help:
Bankuet is a new system supporting foodbanks. It purchases items directly requested by the foodbank from its shopping list and delivers directly to the foodbank warehouse. As foodbanks are facing the same shortages as all of us at the moment, and can’t purchase food in the quantities needed to keep up with demand, this is one way that it can get essential stock.
Southend Foodbank next has a delivery scheduled from Bankuet on 16th April.
Though I appreciate not in the parish, I am happy to receive donations of food or money and take to the Foodbank, and these can be left at 33 Crosby Road, Westcliff SS0 8LF – thank you to those who have done this.
On behalf of Southend Foodbank, thank you all for your continued support. Every contribution is valued and received gratefully by families in need across our town. Now more than ever.
