Friday 15 December saw 140 pupils from Hamstel Junior School, together with accompanying teachers and parents fill our church for their very own Christingle Service organised by Fr Frank. The day before, a small but dedicated group of ladies from amongst our number set to in making enough Christingles for the service; thank you, ladies!
The service was a joy to see; the children visibly enjoyed the occasion, and left tightly clutching the Christingles to take back to school and then home. However, the best indicator of just how much pleasure and enjoyment was achieved was the singing. The children had learned word for word every carol sung, and sung them with passion and style, almost without taking breath, as only young children can do. It was a wonderful occasion and we can only hope that the next two Christingle services will be as good!
