For the last three Sundays a large carboy has been in Church to collect donations from the congregation towards the Rohingya Refugee Appeal. Our Treasurer has just counted the money donated and is sending off a cheque for more than £400 to the Disasters Emergency Committee - we believe this will be matched pound for pound by HM Government.
A big thank you is due to all who chipped in towards this!
Further to our related post earlier this month, we can now update that the 'old' church has been reopened for services. Access to the old church had been prevented due to a monument coming away from its mounting on the wall. The monument has been temporarily secured.
Due to the discovery of a large stone monument appearing to be coming away from its mounting on the wall of our church, it has been necessary to cordon off the 'old church' until such time as it is inspected by expert stonemasons and, if necessary, re-secured in place.
In the interests of public safety we do not feel it is safe to leave the church unattended until we are sure the monument is safe...
